SCASEC Mission Statement

The South Centeral Area Special Education Cooperatives' educational philosopy states that all children, regardless of abilities or limitations, have the right to an appropriate education. SCASEC works with local school corporations to help provide specialized services, programs, or supplementary assistance needed by student with special needs in order for them to attain skills which will aid them in attaining their potential and being productive member of the community.

Melissa Lancaster, Director of S.C.A.S.E.C

 

Melissa Lancaster is originally from Greencastle, Indiana. She graduated from Greencastle High School and attended college at DePauw University. Melissa went to Indiana University for graduate school obtaining a Master's degree in School Psychology. Before she came to SCASEC, Melissa worked as a behavior consultant in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, as a school psychologist at OLJMG Joint Services in Bedford, IN, and as an Educational Consultant for the Boone-Clinton-Northwest Hendricks Joint Services in Lebanon, IN. Melissa has extensive experience and training in assessment, autism, counseling, social skills training, and behavior intervention. Melissa was hired as Director of Special Education for SCASEC in 2006. She resides in Salem, Indiana with the three cats she inherited when she purchased her house. Melissa enjoys reading, scrapbooking, gardening and traveling in her free time.
